[Wylug-help] Ubuntu screen resolution incorrect

Hi Craig,
I can't find a Display Manager but I have looked in the Device Manager and found an 'unknown (0x71c5)' device with ATI listed as the vendor. It's under the 'Mobile 945GM/PM/GMS/940GML and 945GT Express PCI Express Root Port' section. Might that be the graphics card, and if so I guess it's not being correctly recognised. What do you think?
Tim

Hi Tim,
Have you checked that Ubuntu is correctly identifying your card? I don't
know my way around Ubuntu, but you should have a Display Manager that
you can su into that will let you choose your graphics card. If it is
selecting the right one, but still only limiting you to 1024x768, you
might consider adding the dimensions to your xorg.conf file manually.
Make a backup before you try this, but if you do the following as root:
- load up your xorg.conf file (/etc/X11/xorg.conf)
- look for the section labelled 'Section "Screen"' and within that there
should be an entry called Modes under 'Subsection "Display"'.
- before the "1024x768" entry add "1280x800" followed by a space. The
speechmarks are important. The first resolution on the list is the one
it goes for, so make sure it's *before* the 1024 entry
Hope that helps,
Craig
