Hello. I'll try to answer everyone, but maybe not in the right order.
Clive: The fix you mention is the first one James sent me looking at, except that it is in /etc/modprobe.d (not
/etc/modprobe.config.d). I created two, both containing exactly the text you state, one in ath9.conf and the other in ath9k.conf
(like yours).
I did that last night and it didn't seem to have made a difference, but this morning (not having removed them), maybe they work
better. I DID reboot last night after creating these files. Didn't know if it were necesary, but thought it would be best just to be
on the safe side.
Chris: After my first try (exiting with a "q" which showed up on the first line) I did look at the man pages, and thought that -w
(instead of -r) was what I wanted (it wasn't). I was running "mtr -c 20 -w google.es Changing the -w for -r does give a printout,
but doesn't show you anything until it finishes. That was fine, thanks.
Smylers: How does anyone find out about commands like "command-not-found"!? I'm amazed that in the last 24 hours I've been
introduced to "lspci", "mtr", and now this. I don't know how anybody manages even to know they exist! My congratulations to
everyone. Yes I see there are 14 packages wherin "x-www-browser" can be found. If my problem insists (or returns), I'll try one of
them.
James and John: My router came "free" with the adsl contract. It's a ZyXEL P660HW-D1 made in China (isn't everything?). I expect
there are worse, and I'm sure there are better. BTW I pronounce it "seashell", I don't know if that's right.
Trevor.
