dhclient, a hacky but easy to set up perl script, will do this for you -
I'm using it on my machine at home and it's fine. gets IP via dyndns and
updates pretty much anything you care to shake a stick at. if you give
it regexes it'll also parse a stats page from the router itself to get
the external ip.
