kernel-2.6.23.8-34.fc7 is the latest update to fedora core 7 (updated
on 4/12/07), which would make it appear that it has been installed via
yum as an automatic upgrade. There's nothing in the forums that
suggest any specific problems with it.
Two things, if you boot with the older kernel and do an rpm --verify
kernel-2.6.23.8-34 this would prove if the kernel has been properly
installed or not, and if you can write down the output from the kernel
before you get the panic message this could be really helpful.
