I don't normally do 'me too' posts, but Mike's advice is spot
on here. You need more ram and a backup/erase/install
plan is going to be better in the long run than upgrading.
Two points I'll add (to make it worthwhile sending this
email!):
1) If you want something that will just continue to run and
not need updating every 12 months, consider putting
Centos on instead (it's RedHat Advanced Server minus
the branding) if you want to stay in the RedHat world.
Depends if you want the box to play with linux on or
to just get some work done.
2) Lilo v grub. As a long time lilo user as well, I've
bitten the bullet and learnt grub. It's where the rest
of the world has gone.
