Bit of a belated reply to Chia-Hung's uml problem:

tuntap worked for me with the uml_net helper. I setuid
the uml_net program and ran my uml machine with
eth0=tuntap,,192.168.1.10. This automaticaly sets up
the tap interface on the host. I then ran the uml
machine and set up the network as if the uml machine
was on my lan (static IP 192.168.1.20, netmask
255.255.255.0, default gateway 192.168.1.10). Problem
was my firewall blocked the uml machine's connection,
so I ended up disabling the firewall. And the setuid
uml_net is a security hazard.
