If you read the Received headers in reverse order, you can see what
happened (read from the bottom up):
8. it was delivered to a final destination on a criticalpath system run
by tucows. you got it from here by IMAP using Kmail.
> Received: from n080.sc1.he.tucows.com (64.97.168.34) by
> n115.sc1.cp.net (7.2.066)
> id 450C6C1201E71414 for play.net at virgin.net; Sun, 4 Mar 2007
> 20:32:25 +0000
7. they sent it to a tucows inbound server, which presumably virgin use
as an outsourced hosting provider
> Received: from nf-out-0910.google.com (64.233.182.187) by
> n080.sc1.he.tucows.com (7.2.069.1)
> id 45E8540D001ECE8C for play.net at virgin.net; Sun, 4 Mar 2007
> 20:32:25 +0000
6. out again, through one of their zillion outbound relays
> Received: by nf-out-0910.google.com with SMTP id y38so1873323nfb
> for <play.net at virgin.net>; Sun, 04 Mar 2007 12:32:25 -0800
> (PST)
5. ...this machine knows this is an alias for play.net at virgin.net, so it
sends it on some more
> Received: by 10.82.135.13 with SMTP id i13mr4142067bud.1173040344078;
> Sun, 04 Mar 2007 12:32:24 -0800 (PST)
> X-Forwarded-To: play.net at virgin.net
> X-Forwarded-For: baron at linuxmaniac.net play.net at virgin.net
4. the mail was delivered to baron at linuxmaniac.net at google, but...
> Delivered-To: baron at linuxmaniac.net
3. it got passed around some more
> Received: by 10.82.171.11 with SMTP id t11cs402214bue;
> Sun, 4 Mar 2007 12:32:23 -0800 (PST)
2. it got passed around inside google
> Received: by 10.66.244.11 with SMTP id r11mr8859665ugh.1173040343468;
> Sun, 04 Mar 2007 12:32:23 -0800 (PST)
1. mail.petitions.pm.gov.uk sent the email, and it went to google, which
is the MX for linuxmaniac.net
> Received: from mail.petitions.pm.gov.uk (mail.petitions.pm.gov.uk
> [82.111.230.221])
> by mx.google.com with SMTP id
> e1si5942518ugf.2007.03.04.12.32.23;
> Sun, 04 Mar 2007 12:32:23 -0800 (PST)
> As can be seen, there is a great deal of information about the alias
> and ISP's that I use.

Doug.
