I assume so. It just stops after the kernel loads.

I don't think there is anything physically wrong with
machine, as I said things work perfectly with damn
small linux 2.3 (sound ok mount and unmount cds fine).
In dsl the cd does appear as /dev/scd0 rather than
/dev/hdc though.
