It's a good weekend for me.  What you will need:

+ A GPS which can record tracks.

+ Some way to get the data from the device onto a computer, be it by 
bluetooth, serial cable or whatever. 

+ Some way to record street names as you go round.  Options are: 
  - digital camera (must timestamp the images)
  - dictaphone (useful for those who like to drive-map)
  - pencil and paper

+ If you are walking/cycling, don't forget suncream and/or a hat, and a 
bottle of drink.

+ Enough batteries for your GPS/camera/dictaphone
