[YLUG] borken pipe

Hello,

How can I detect a broken pipe ?
I have a perl application which pipe aother application, this one can
be die for different reason, so I would like to test if it is still
alive before perl try to access it.

I can get the name of the pipe: prw------- 1 pdupre users 0 2008-06-18 
13:04 /tmp/xmgrace_fifo9979_1

Can I test it ?
