Once *any* form of storage medium starts to give errors, make an
effort to get the data off it <b>then take a lump-hammer to it</b>.
Once something's 'gone manky' go and buy a new one - storage is so
dirt cheap that you owe it to yourself - unless you really believe
your time is free ;)
(I've been bitten by a corrupt memory stick once, last year; I spent a
couple of very long days trying to track down an error deep insice one
of a pair of embedded devices, only to discover that the problem was
corruption in the test content we were using on a memory stick).
