you say when you startx in user mode can you do it as root ?

if so sounds like a permissions problem

Hello, 
 

I upgrade a machine from Fedora 7 to Fedora 10 and when I startx in 

user mode I get 2 errors: 

xauth: error in locking authority filr /home/pdupre/.serverauth.15069 
 

Fatal server error: 

Cannot opern log file ":var/log/Xorg.0.log" 
 

How can I solve this problem ?
