Linux wireless internet question (on campus)

I have recently bought an Acer Aspire One laptop which runs Linpus Linux 
Lite v1.0.9.E but I am having difficulty connecting wirelessly to eduroam 
on campus.

It has been suggested that I could try and install a different version of 
Linux to allow me to get online wirelessly, but I am not too sure where to 
find this software.

I wondered if anybody had experienced a similar situation and could 
recommend the best way for me to proceed.
