I did try both with the same results.
I can also add, that from the campus, trying to use webvpn to
connect on my machine, I have the same behavior:
Connection are frozen as soon as I make a network connection,
In my opinion, the generated route table mess up the internet connection.

Which arguments in the traceroute ?
Try traceroute/tracepath, that should give you a clue (if it
