For the survey :) I use freeparking for *.uk, and the web interface for
dns and other admin is fine.

I use gandi.net for just about everything else, and I notice they now do
co.uk and org.uk (not .me.uk though it seems), their web interface is
spot on - for example DNS ranges from easy hand holding to the option of
a text area where you can just edit your zone file.

Also a good option if you have a vps is to remember lots of vps hosting
companies (all the good ones ;) will offer DNS servers too, so you can
change the listed DNS servers for your domain with the company you
register the domain through. Then just upload your zone file to you vps
hosting company (or have them secondary to your non-listed dns server)
