You could try resetting the CMOS - depending on the age of the motherboard
(and how fancy it is) this is done by removing the CMOS battery, using a
jumper to short two pins (the right two pins - check your motherboard
manual) or pressing the CMOS reset button on the motherboard (fancy
motherboards only). It may be that the battery is dead, in which case it'll
need replacing.
