[YLUG] How can you find out if an install is 32 or 64 bit?

Incorrect, i686 indicates a 32bit kernel. This is how a 64bit kernel looks:

pre500 at nilptp013:~$ uname -a
Linux nilptp013 2.6.32-5-amd64 #1 SMP Mon Mar 7 21:35:22 UTC 2011
x86_64 GNU/Linux

32bit is also often called i386 and x86. 64bit is also often called amd64.
