Dear Mike

MODX uses templates to configure each page; you can set up as many different
templates as you want. When you start a new page, you select the template you
want to use.

If you want to have a news or a blog page, you set up a container template for
the page and a separate news or blog template for the items which are going to
appear on the page.

It also has ‘chunks,’ that is chunks of code which you can insert into a
template or page, for example, if you want a standard footer on all pages.

It supports HTML5 and CSS containers which are excellent for displaying images
in an orderly way. Of course, you can stick with HTML4 if you are more
comfortable with that but you will lose some of the advantages in readability
and speed that come from using HTML5.

I do voluntary work for an organisation which uses both MODX and WordPress and
the speed of MODX and its low server load compared with WordPress are very
noticeable.

John
