Generally, neither do I.

But it all depends what you want to do. MySQL is excellent if you just
want a relational database with one or two persistent connections.
It's quick and easy to set up, and is excellent as a backend to web
servers (especially on intranets). It does not stand up to load
though. It is hard (if not impossible) to make secure, and misses out
a LOT of functionality compared to PostgreSQL.

BTW, IMO, v4, which I've tried out recently, is a pile of steaming poo!
