Yeah, there are some zealots among them who give the project a bad
name. Thing is, Debian being a purely community-driven distro leads to
some believing that it's there to "save humanity" or whatever.  
Commercial distros suffer less from this, as people realise they're
just there to make money and don't have a political agenda.

Fortunately, most real Debian developers are decent, hardworking folks
who are willing to help.
