I always deliberately avoided using Edit because I believe it is a stub file
that simply launches the QuickBasic editor (at least early versions...).

I was a committed TurboBASIC user (and still follow it's fortunes as
PowerBASIC) and so couldn't bear to have QuickBasic around...

When I use MS DOS/Windows, EDIT is my choice as well. Probably because I 
also use the old MS Quick BASIC v4.5 (not QBasic) and MS Quick C v2.5, 
which look/feel similar.
