ok, god I'm slow... I got it sorted, it was a dns problem as in I hadn't installed any dns forwarding packages For now I just have dnsmasq and I've removed dhcpd. My next mission if I choose to accept it: traffic control Hmmm... somehow I feel like I've gone 'round in circles...
