[Glastonbury] html

I need to upgrade my understanding of html to include html4.x and xhtml 
standards. I particularly could do with a good HOWTO on using .css 
stylesheets. I've found a lot of stuff on the history of it and various other 
long-winded and technical stuff, but I've yet to see a concise explanation of 
exactly what to put in your .css files to get the intended result.

Any pointers would be gratefully appreciated.
