Quite agreed.  And if I (as one who gets excellent use out of old
hardware running linux or *bsd) give the wrong impression that that is
all Linux is good for, I stand corrected.  I earn a living admin-ing
linux on very state-of-the-art hardware, and Linux is, of course,
superb on it.

However, it remains the case that for those who can't afford to buy
the latest kit, the ability to use older kit, or even buy it cheaply
and use it, Linux is a wonderful tool to have at your disposal.

Maybe its because in my heart I am more excited about schools,
charities and other non-profits being able to have effective and
scaleable solutions than I am about big businesses using Linux.
