I'm not suggesting we share "our" as in our xdsl/ cable, you could share
at least one 2Mb satellite down link (=A3150/yr kind o screws over my
=A3360/yr 0.5mb ADSL not including phone line).
As for security, the 64bit encrypted WEG keys offer another level
security over that already implemented by any normal wired LAN operating
guest accounts.
The reason I felt it would be of interest, is that to my mind its very
much in the vain of the GPL, Linux, and the fsf. When something doesn't
work or you are being held to ransom by a corporation, vote with your
feet- use technology to change the situation. Theres loads of people in
Huddersfield excluded because location, and plenty that plain can't
afford it. Thats were EU/ council funding comes in. If you can provide a
non profit service to the community, especially one that enables people/
provides an avenue for sponsorship from local business/ can be a
prestigious (if you look on the web for other areas in Britain with
wireless access they tend revolve around London and the south east with)
then there will always be a source of funding available.
Its just an idea, but its an exciting one.
