It is obviously easiest at a meeting, can you wait until the next one?

The list of instructions you gave would work, so it not really a
learning (lack of knowledge) issue.

You would need a source tarball, and that is available on the internet
- I could bring it if needed.

You shouldn't need to adjust any settings in Ubuntu.
