Just to let you know I have found someone who is willing to show me
their Mac computer.
I was going to text my befriender yesterday morning but I forgot so when
he came I asked him if he had a portable Mac he could possibly bring
with him and he told me he does have both a desktop and notebook Mac
systems so hopefully I might be able to put Voiceover through its paces
so to speak to see if a Mac is a viable alternative for being able to do
tasks such as updating the firmware on my I-phone with me not using
Windows.
I have had a brief look at the Vooiceover guide which I have had to read
as separate chapters as the HTML version is broken down into separate
chapters and I can't seem to be able to read the PDF version in Ubuntu
because of lack of accessibility with PDF documents with Orca and for
some reason I couldn't get it delivered to Adobe's PDF conversion email
address as it kept being returned with an invalid email address error
which it shouldn't have done as I have done it with another document I
was sent by Traveleyes which is a Blind Holiday travel company which was
set up by someone who is Blind themself.
I have a basic idea of Voiceover commands for the Mac, it is just trying
them out.
I know that command F5 starts the screenreader for the Apple Mac and I
believe CTRL plus option keys in combination with arrow keys or function
keys etc access the Voiceover commands.
Also I know that there may be alternative functions for difficult
commands if I for example were to buy a Macbook as it may have a
trackpad which might make things slightly easier for more difficult
commands as I am fairly familiar with the gestures used on the I-phone.
