Hi All,

This seems like a nice way to possibly raise the profile of the LUG a bit
(admittedly very tiny bit)

I guess most people are LA1? Since I have no idea, please forward yor postcode
to me if you feel comfortable with this and I'll compile a list and send it
off.

Martyn

Can we link postcodes to LUGs?

A form on the website where you enter the first half of a postcode
and it shows you the nearest LUGs?

Subject: Promoting LUGs
Message: Hi!

I run fastdiscs.com, a cheap CD shop along the lines of Linux Emporium
and Cheep Linux. I'm also an active member of the West Yorkshire LUG,
and have been known to organise events and give talks.

I often point people towards their local LUG to encourage them to go
further with Linux. I currently have some spare space on the invoices I
send with the CDs, which I'd like to use to promote LUG membership.
Ideally, I'd like to say: "Your local LUG is: xxxxx" based on the
customer's postcode. To do this, I'd need some input from any
interested LUGmasters, specifically, what postcode areas their LUGs
cover if they're interested in getting new members through this. I
think it would be more effective than just directing people to
lug.org.uk and leaving them to fend for themselves.

What do you think?

James
