Yes, I use SuSE 9.1 and have it running on a Thinkpad T21. Very good it 
is too!
I haven't tried using PCMCIA cards on this machine, because NIC, modem 
and USB 2 are all built in and all work 100% (including the Lucent 
winmodem!).

In the past I've had SuSE 8.2 running on an AJP laptop which required 
PCMCIA NIC and modem cards. I never discovered why, but although the 
network card driver was loaded during initial installation, it did not 
load on subsequent reboots. I had to load manually via 'modprobe <module 
name>. I eventually wrote the instruction into one of the startup 
scripts, then all was well. Can't remember which script. If you pop 
along to the Folly this coming Wednesday (28th), I'm sure we can sort it 
out.
