I've handled two IBM Thinkpad T21 laptops. One has a Lucent winmodem, 
the other a 3Com winmodem. Outwardly the machines appear to be 
identical. There are no Linux drivers for the 3Com device. Fortunately, 
mine is the one with the Lucent device.
