I am writing to put out feelers for anyone interested in
starting a bitcoin community in the Merseyside area.

Bitcoin, and indeed wider concepts in blockchain technology
and other strong cryptography; have the potential to revolutionise our society.
I believe it is of great importance to connect minds who share curiosity for
this new technology at an early stage. I also believe it is of great importance
to introduce people in the local area to this technology, which could be a
great economic boost to Merseyside. A lot of myths and preconceptions surround
bitcoin, thanks largely to sensationalist media coverage; therefore it would be
great to spread some more accurate awareness!

Thoughts are, to start with a simple weekday evening pub/cafe
get together. The first topic (predictably): “What is bitcoin?” This will
enable anyone new to the technology to begin to understand how it works. If
successful, I would be tempted to try and arrange a screening of the film “The
rise and rise of bitcoin”.

I shall provisionally propose a date of Thurs 27th
November, location TBD. If you are interested but this is not a good date, let
me know.

Best

Andy
