If you bring up the menu and look under System or Utilities or something
like that you'll find "Terminal" or "Konsole" or "Xterm".  Click on one
of those and you'll get a terminal window.  Alternatively you can put
ctrl-alt-f1 to get you to a text login screen.  Alt-F7 will get you back
into your windowing system.
