[Nottingham] Strage X / terminal bug: restarts whenever I press tab

Elementary, my dear Watson! It was the only pausible thing that was common 
to the symptoms described.

I guess there's something buggy in the X server when it dispatches the 
alert bell to rest of the system. Best to file a bug report to whatever 
distro you're using.
