Hi

Before swapping out the DVD drive I thought I'd try playing a normal
MP3 file. It plays (but it's a little distorted, fuzzy somehow, but
maybe we'll come to that in due course).

Incidentally, it used RealPlayer to play that which does two things ..
firstly where I was getting instructions from Helix Player that
installing RealPlayer usually improved quality .. I don't have to do
that because it's already done. Secondly, my frustration with Fedora 4
that it doesn't, out of the box, play MP3s is answered simply .. use a
different distribution.

So attention is focussing on the CD/DVD drive. I'll swap it with
another and see how we get on.
