I haven't implemented an automatic solution to your above problem although
there will probably be a way. My manual solution (only through KMail at
the moment) was to set up three identity accounts. When I compose a mail I
get an extra option to choose which identity I want to send as. I do have
to remember to manually switch this if I don't want to use the default
identity so it's not ideal (but it gets me by). Multiple identity accounts
are also possible with Thunderbird (but again it's a manual switch).

My webmail client just uses the default account. You got me thinking now.
I wonder if SquirrelMail has an identities plug-in that some clever person
has written. I'm going to take a look now.
