This was still true the last time I tried it and a quick scan on google
suggests that this is true of release 10 too. I don't think it's that
difficult to bypass - the pacman repositories usually offer everything
that is needed [1]. 

I recently installed Ubuntu Breezy and that was the same. Luckily they
provide simple instructions on their website to get it all working.
