Linux shorthand word processor?

Open Office only seems to do shorthand with at least three letters, which is
no use for shorthand.
Similarly, Short-keys for Windows used at least 2 keys. Little good because
the most common words in English are just 2 letters.
Also, you had to wait as it spelled out the abbreviated word in full before
you could go on.
Some word processors have long since allowed you to type shorthand words then
press a menu option to transform the lot into full English. Does Linux have a
word processor or dedicated program for this, please?
