Ooh, hello :-) Well done for that, it's a very detailed message,
enough for us to have a go at diagnosis.

Unfortunately I've no immediate clue tho. I really would have expected
it to sense the printer when you plugged in, end of.

Oh .. I'm thinking this <http://www.linuxprinting.org/cups-doc.html>
is the place to start, the other printer was using CUPS, so that's
what's managing your printing.

The first thing it says to do is go (logically) to step five and 'just
try it'. Use 'root' as your username, and the root password that you
know. See how far that takes you. You never know, it might just work.

Another possibility is to bring the whole shebang to the meeting on
Wednesday and we can have a lookie see, but try it anyway. Don't be
afraid to stop at the first hurdle and ask .. Linux can be
labrynthine.
