True. It's all to easy to say that it's easy when you know how!

Richard, I remember the problems that we had installing Mandrake on your
computer. Linux has come a long way since then and the installs are much
more user firendly - and recognise much more hardware.

All I know is Mandrake has changed its name (if it still exists).

Mandrake became Mandrivia (ugh). I don't really know much about it now.
Ubuntu is a fine distribution and would almost certainly meet your needs. I
would put money on someone being able to install it for you at a meet, your
hardware being recognised (I recall that most was reasonably standard), and
you going away a happy man.
