I sent a mail a while back about the Free and Open Source Developers
European Meeting and a few people have showed an in interest in going so
I've done some investigation into travel/hotel costs.

As a reminder, the conference runs over the 8th and 9th February
(Saturday and Sunday) and more information can be found at
www.fosdem.org

My current work situation means that I'm can't take very much time off,
so I'm planning to travel to Brussels in the evening of the 7th and
travel back in the evening of the 9th of February.

Flights (info taken from expedia.co.uk)

The outward flight is with Brussels Airlines and departs from Bristol at
20:55 arriving in Brussels at 23:15. The return flight leaves Brussels
at 19:55 and arrives in Bristol at 20:20.

The cost for the flight alone is £101.89, there are flights that leave
earlier which I could possibly make, such as leaving at 16:10 and
arriving at 18:25, coming back on the 19:55 flight. The cost is the same
but I personally would prefer the later flight.

Train

The Eurostar seems to cost about £289 return so I will rule this out as
being too expensive.

Youth Hostel

I have only looked at the ones recommended by the FOSDEM site, but they
are both run by the same company so the prices will be the same:

Per person:

Single: 22.50 Euros / £14.58
Double: 17.50 Euros / £11.35
+4 people in a room: 12.50 Euros / £8.10
+4 people in a en-suite room: 14.50 Euros / £9.40

Room:
4 beds: 39.00 Euros
5-6 beds: 57.50 Euros
7-8 beda: 73.50 Euros

The other alternative is to try and find a hotel somewhere in Brussels.

Let me know if you are interested in going, Of course we don't all need
to travel at the same time or stay in the same place but it would
probably be easier and would lower the cost of any taxis etc that we may
use. I will also be able to give anyone getting the same flight as me
lifts to Bristol from Cardiff or Newport as I'll be leaving my car in
the long stay car park.
