Founded on the 1st March 2003
Founded and initially based at St. Dunstan's Community School, and now at Tor Leisure (and other places, potentially), the Linux User Group aims to give the local community in and around Glastonbury access to the GNU/Linux operating system as well as the many free and open source (FLOSS) applications that can run on it as a platform.
LUGoG's aim is to to promote the GNU/Linux and the BSD operating systems and to assist those people who are interested in the Free OS as well as raise awareness of the term Open Source and all that this implies.
Technical support in the form of e-mail or verbal advice is free. Low cost CDs and boot disks are also available. Books and other help can also be provided.
LUGoG is looking for sponsorship as well as support from the local community. If you think you have something to offer the group; expertise, software, books, LUGoG T-shirts?, finance, second hand or new PC hardware etc:
please do get in contact via the mailing list with your details.
Our aim is to learn together and to share expertise to become stronger.
LUGoG is affiliated to the Linuxinschools web site which is also a member of Schoolforge.
Their mission is to help unify independent organizations that advocate, use, and develop
Open Source resources for primary and secondary education around the world.
If you are interested in getting actively involved do join the list. If you wish to provide support for a particular application this would also help. We look forward to seeing you and hope that you get all the help that you need to become an informed GNU/Linux or Free BSD user.
