[Bassetlug mailing] Using the mailing list for discussion - great!

Now that the mailing list is being used a little more for technical
discussion (great!), just a word about how to use it ;-)

Unless you really need to email people personally ('off list' as they
say), try and make sure you reply to the bassetlug at mailman.lug.org.uk
address (which should have been the sender), using the same subject
name. If you don't the thread of the conversation gets lost and
disjointed and it's not easy to follow/help with.

Also try and keep the discussion in relation to the subject name. The
mailman archive stores threads of conversations according to the name in
the email subject field, so that they can be more easily referenced
later/used by others.

If you think you're going off the original topic and getting into
something else by all means start a new thread.

Apologies that for some this will seem like sucking eggs!
