[Bassetlug mailing] LDAP authentication

Following up from beginnings of a conversation at BLUG lastnight I draw
attention to this tutorial which seems quite extensive.

I'd be quite interested in BasstLUG members trying to achieve something
similar, but I suspect I may struggle to find the time.

Reading this tutorial does raise the question of whether a server of this
nature would be better on a version of Ubuntu that was long term support
(LTS) as one of the complaints of the author is that each time a new release
of Ubuntu comes out something on the LDAP server seems to get broken...

So deciding on how critical that might be would perhaps be one of the first
Qs to debate (ie over to you!)
