Above link is much the same as Marks but is the Wiki documentation to do 
it on 8.04 (The last LTS release...for now). Instructions seem pretty 
clear so i may even have a bash myself.

The above link is a guide to perform the same setup on 9.04 (The latest 
none-LTS version of Ubuntu). The author also advises that this will also 
work with 8.04. Everyone seems to like this guide as it seem very easy to 
Setup a full OpenLDAP/Samba server.

It describes how to setup a server that is responsible for all updates so 
that you don't have all the machines on your network downloading the same 
files from the net every time there is an update (which in Ubuntu is every 
few days). Could save someone a hell of a lot of bandwidth.
