Hi Dave,
 Thanks for the feedback... I think you are right... I tried to open the
file with Pinnacle Studio on Windows too (which came with my 1394 card) and
that couldn't open it either... Microsoft must have definitely done
something to break that surely -- don't know why I'm so surprised really...
Can't believe that they still insist on only allowing certain formats...
I've spent more time trying to write to a VCD than actually editing the
video -- it's crazy... I think I'll try persevering with Cinelerra from now
on (unless anyone has any other specific recommendations...)
 I tried Virtual Dub and it did actually manage to open it, but I've nearly
finished re-editing the video in Pinnacle for now -- need to get it out this
weekend... One other thing I'll mention which I just learned is that
Pinnacle was refusing to load an MP3 that I was trying to include. The
reason : I had an image attached to the MP3 in iTunes. Spent some time
working that one out, I can tell you!!
