Hi everyone

I was talking to Jon and Mark at Blackpool LUG this morning about events
that are happening in the next few months, and I thought that you all might
like to hear about them.

*May

21st
Opentech London *http://www.ukuug.org/events/opentech2011/
OpenTech 2011 is an informal, low cost, one-day conference on slightly
different approaches to technology, transport and democracy. Talks by people
who work on things that
matter<http://radar.oreilly.com/2009/01/work-on-stuff-that-matters-fir.html>,
guarantees a day of thoughtful talks leading to conversations with friends.

*July

23rd & 24th*
*Barcamp Nottingham* http://bcnott.co.uk/
Barcamp is a free unconference with no scheduled speakers.
A 30 hour barcamp in the heart of the UK. The venue, food and drink is
provided by sponsorship. The content is provided by the attendees. Bring
along something cool to share with people (rules are it's brand new content,
something you've never presented before). Sessions can be tutorials,
presentations, photo walks, techy, crafty or something completely different!

*August

13th and 14th
Oggcamp 11* http://oggcamp.org/
*OggCamp 11* is a two-day unconference where technology enthusiasts come
together to exchange knowledge on a wide range of topics from Linux and open
source software to building home automation systems.

*September (no exact date as yet)*
*
Software Freedom Day* http://softwarefreedomday.org/
SFD is a global event with over 100 countries participating. By supporting
Software Freedom Day, not only are you helping get the word out about why
sustainable and trustworthy systems are important, but you are aligning your
company with others involved in the rapidly growing FOSS market.
*
October

15th Barcamp Blackpool* http://barcampblackpool.com/
A free ‘unconference’ with no scheduled speakers. Attendees arrive on the
day armed with talks and decide which ones they want to go along to! The
talks can be on anything, from android application development to learning
the British Sign Language to Electronic Organs played by BBC Micros!
*
November*

*5th and 6th Replay Expo 2011* http://www.replayexpo.com/
Replay Expo is the unique video gaming event that prides itself in
celebrating both the classics as well as the very latest titles. Following
the success of last year’s debut show, Replay Expo will return to the
Norbreck Castle Exhibition Centre in Blackpool on the 5/6 November 2011; the
final weekend of the famous Illuminations.

*No fixed dates (as yet)

Okay Computer 1.x*
A follow on session for attendees of the first Okay Computer event, will let
you know more when I can.
*
Okay Computer 2 *http://okaycomputer.org/
Okay_Computer is a workshop where you can discover a type of computer
software that is… different. The software is free: free as in freedom, not
free as in free beer (though it is often that too in reality).
