I went with the WinTV-Nova option as Donald suggested (thanks Donald),
which arrived this morning.
This seems to be a drop in replacement, although I did re-confirm all
the settings in MythTV backend setup, including re-scanning the
channels. so far so good.
The joys of a home office!
