[Blackpool] HTC Desire revival

Evening all... My Desire has decided that it doesn't want to turn on or
take a charge. Does anybody know how I might test it to see if it's
completely dead?

I've swapped USB cables for charging (and plugged in to a PC).
Swapped batteries.
Held volume - button and power button down at the same time.

So I'm wondering if there's anything else I can do to check that the phone
is definitely dead before I sell a kidney to get a new handset... Any ideas?
