[Bradford] Convert wave amplitude into a float

No, there is a stream of waves being sent from the Raspberry Pi. The aim
is to detect changes in the shapes of these waves. If the changes match
certain expected events, nothing will happen. If the changes do not
match any of the expected events, an alert will be sent.

So the stream needs to be sampled at a reasonable frequency and the
float value of the wave amplitude assessed to see whether it is part of
an expected shape or not.

I have found a post on the Internet which says this can be done in
Python but I wondered if anyone had any other ideas about/experiences of
sampling waves and processing the data as floats.
