It describes a process I am already aware of, certainly. The problem is 
how to write the changes directly into the BIOS. I did this 4 or 5 years 
ago when configuring this as a new computer. But that was when UEFI was 
relatively new and with an AMD CPU. The new laptop has an Intel CPU and, 
seemingly, there has been some industry concensus allowing 'Doze too 
much of an influence for comfort.

John has been in touch off-list and I'm awaiting his response to my 
response. If he can do it I'll be making the earliest possible 
arrangement to get to Halifax. As always, though, it's not straightforward.
